Americans Would Rather Travel Than Pay High Costs

Affordable, quality care apparently trumps the commitment to travel. Approximately 50 million uninsured Americans are choosing medical tourism rather than pay for medical care in the US.

Cardiology (Heart Surgery) Treatments

In medicine cardiology deals with heart diseases and disorders that plague the heart. It includes the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, congenital heart defects, heart failure, etc. Doctors who specialize in treating the heart are called cardiologists and those that perform surgeries on the heart are called cardiac surgeons.

Cardiac surgery is usually the last option when other conventional treatments for heart care like exercise, medicines or diet restriction haven't worked or can't be used because of some reason. It is normally used to treat heart failure and coronary heart disease. Heart surgery may also be used to fix valves that don't work well, or to control heartbeat or finally to replace a damaged heart with a healthy one.

Your primary doctor, cardiologist and a cardio-vascular or cardio-thoracic surgeon will decide if heart surgery is for you.

There are many diagnostic tests that will be performed to find if you really need cardiac surgery. Some tests are electrocardiogram, stress test, coronary angiography, echocardiography, aortogram, chest Xray, cardiac MRI, etc. All these tests and the operation may be performed at a heart hospital.
